Ever looked into working at home? Being your own boss? Don't know where to start? Or just completely overwhelmed by everybody who seems to want you to join with them? I am going to give you some websites that you can use as a reference point. I do not in no way get any kind of credit or commission for this. I started looking for something to do from home when I had my first child, which was 9 years ago. I am going to share with you what I have experienced first hand.
First of all, don't just jump into something. You are going to want to research, check out the Better Business Bureau (bbb.com), and do a web search with the company's name with the word review. And the most important thing, trust your gut instinct, if something seems to good too be true, more than likely it is.
- One of my fave websites for FREE is www.ratracerebellion.com. They have lots of different kinds of work to do from home, and they are split into catagories which is an added bonus.
- Another FREE website to look through is www.wahm.com. I suggest going to the forums. I found some of my best work leads there.
- For those handy, crafty people you can sell your handmade stuff on www.etsy.com for a small fee.
- If you enjoy writing then check out the section on wahm.com and ratracerebellion.com
- Once you find some companies, do some research, use the www.bbb.com, and do a search with the companies name and the word review.
- Finally, what does your gut instinct tell you?
Here is my experience with different work at home companies. If it is a make it/craft company, check out the bbb.com, if I had to guess a percentage I would say 97% of the work you do will not meet their "quality" guidelines. Stuffing envelopes, you will be sending out the same paper that you got. Chain letters, so many people have heard of these and run for the hills when they get one in their mailbox. I use to use them to get names and addresses of opportunity seekers (back when I was trying to "stuff envelopes". Once your name gets on one of these lists, it gets sold and you receive lots and lots of mail.
Babysitting is a legit way to go if you like kids. Make sure to check your states guidelines and laws regarding the number of children you can keep at once and taxes. Medical transcription is also an option if you have the education/experience. Dog groomer, also if you have the education and experience (and like animals.)
There are many things you can do, what is something that you do as a hobby? Do you like to shop? How about selling on ebay. Do you like sew? How about making stuff for etsy.com? Whatever it is you like to do there is a possibility that you can make it work for you. The world is yours, you just need to claim it.
