Star Reviews’ Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2011 Favorite Feature:

We had a hard time choosing just one favorite feature. There were 2 features that equally stood out to us here at StarReviews. Our absolute favorite feature of the Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2011 is the Gamer Mode which allows the program to work in the background without interfering with the gaming experience. Children and teenagers often download viruses and other threats to a computer unintentionally. This program ensures that does not happen. They are less likely to cut the anti-virus software off if it does not interfere with their games.

Coming in at a very close second favorite feature was the Vulnerability Scan which will skim through all the files and programs on your computer in order to let you know which ones are the most likely to be attacked or infected. This comes in very handy for those of you who tend to multitask and need to download various programs on to your computer. It will give you a better idea of which areas need to have an eye kept on them at all times and help reduce the headache that comes with viruses, spyware, and other types of infections. We personally loved this feature and think that other antivirus programs should follow suit and duplicate this feature or create one similar to it. This was the first time that we had seen anything like this and quite frankly, we'd like to see more of it in the future.

This could be their best version yet as they have made many improvements on past features as well as added in some new features that play a vital role in making this program come together. They have  made a valiant effort to improve this program and make it run to its full potential and you'll notice that from the first second that you have it running on your computer. Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2011 Software Experience:

When browsing the Kaspersky web page, the first thing we noticed was that in order to get the free trial of the program you have to subscribe to their mailing list in which they send you offers and updates via email. Not to say that it's a bad thing but it seems like they went out of their way to try to market their products to you but we decided to go ahead and get the free trial regardless. The installation was a bit slow in comparison to some of the other free trials that we downloaded and it did seem to freeze our computer here and there but it was nothing too major so we won't complain quite yet. You will then have the option to activate the full version or the trial version so we went ahead and chose the trial version to move forth with the installation process. As soon as it was complete, we immediately noticed that Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2011 had a slightly different interface in comparison to some of the other antivirus programs. It starts out as what seems to be a bubble in the right hand corner of your desktop and you have to click the logo to open up the full interface. While we think it looks very neat and is creative, others might find it difficult to even find it or figure out how to open the program. We feel that because of this, it may not be the ideal program for beginners.

Moving on, we ran a full scan first to see if the scan slowed down our computer any since the installation did and we were surprised to see that it didn't slow down our system at all. It did however take quite a while to complete the scan and it seemed to stay on 1% for around 10 minutes. This doesn't really hurt the program or its effectiveness but it would be nice if its scan time was a little quicker. You also have the option to run a Criticial Areas Scan which doesn't take as long but it also doesn't cover your entire computer so it is suggested to run the Full Scan unless you are tight on time. You have to use the bubble interface at the top right of your screen to access the setting and reports but they are very detailed and easy to navigate once you get to them. We also tested out the Vulnerability Scan. One was detected within ten minutes and it also suggested other areas where my system could use an upgrade. Very impressive in my eyes. I did have a few problems when attempting to use this software. As I had a previous version of the software on my computer, I chose to purchase a renewal activation code. The code would not work for me and it took a number of contacts before the issue was resolved. Furthermore, you have to purchase an update every year as a two year option is not available.

Basically what it does is scan your system for programs or files that are more likely to be attacked or infected and fixes the problem. The entire scan took about 45 minutes to complete but the feature is a good one to have and if you do decide to purchase Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2011, run it once a week at least. All in all, this is what appears to be a very high tech antivirus program with a unique interface but it may not appeal to people who have never used an antivirus before or don't fool with the computer very much. If you are still set on using this program and have any issues with the interface or the program itself, you can contact Customer Service by clicking the Support tab at the bottom of the program. From there you will be put in touch with their Support Team who will be able to resolve all your issues.

Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2011 Software Customer Service:

Customer service for this product through the Kaspersky website may deter a few people. First you must read though all of the common information and indicate that you have done so before submitting a case. Live chat is available from 9 AM to 9 PM EST and, if an operator is not available, you will be redirected to a form where you can submit a case online. The website asks that telephone support be used for critical issues only. The website clearly states that telephone support cannot be used for step-by-step instructions which have been e-mailed to you or knowledgebase articles. Additionally, this form of support cannot be used for the installation process, rebates status, or modifying an online order.

  • Excellent protection against many threats
