When the team here at Star Reviews began to research the best of the best, the name KnowX came up time and time again. KnowX is a LexisNexis company and provides services well beyond
background checks. KnowX is more of a business service that you would
want a subscription to. They include asset searches for corporations
and fax more investigative information.

Star Reviews' Favorite KnowX Feature:
Varying subscription levels-Whether you just want to run a one-time report or you need several reports on a regular basis, KnowX has a plan that fits. Some of the top background check services don't offer volume discounts or if they do, the volume needs to be extremely high. KnowX is one of the rare exceptions.

KnowX was launched in 1997 and has been providing information resources to the public ever since. The company offers reasonable prices and has multiple subscription levels to meet a variety of needs.
Navigating the KnowX Website:
At first glance the KnowX website is easy to navigate – especially if you're just trying to locate someone or do a background check on a business. However, if you're trying to locate criminal records, KnowX may not be your best bet.
KnowX does not offer criminal records directly. Instead, they have integrated their site with a service called RapSheets. Unfortunately, unlike many of the other top background check services, running a criminal check with this site is less than efficient. First you have to try to figure out how to actually log into the RapSheets portion of the site and once you finally manage to do that you have to figure out how to actually use it. Unless you enjoy feeling like a rat in a maze, we don't suggest using KnowX for criminal records services.
That being said, locating people with KnowX is very easy. You can even use their TRACER product to locate people via their spouses. Want to find someone with the name James Smith in Chicago? Good luck sorting through them all. However, if James Smith is married to Stephanie Smith, it's much easier.
KnowX's TRACER can search within those parameters and you'll come up with a list of all the James Smiths who are married to Stephanie Smiths in that area. Still might be a long list, but it will be a lot easier than just searching for James Smith alone.

Because KnowX offers such a wide variety of subscription levels and services, the pricing plans really are customized to your specific needs. For example, if you want to run a basic background check on someone, it will cost you $9.95. This includes information on bankruptcies, judgments, lawsuits, liens, UCC filings and more. However, if you have multiple people you want to run this report on you can do so with a day pass for just $24.95. For this price you can run unlimited background checks for 24 hours. We recommend taking a good look at KnowX's pricing page before making your purchase so you can be sure you're getting the product that best meets your needs.
KnowX Customer Support:
KnowX offers customer support via email and an extensive FAQ database. While the FAQ pages were quite comprehensive, we would have liked the help section to be more user-friendly and easy to navigate. Email support can be accessed by logging into your KnowX account and contacting them via the online submission form. While they say responses are usually received within 1 business day, it took 2 to get the answers to our questions.
Upside:
Competitive pricing, see sample reports before you buy, volume discounts available.
Downside:
Site could have been easier to navigate.
