Legal forms are a fact of life. Sooner or later we’re going to need a legally binding document and we will dread the prospect of hiring an attorney and the expensive fees that go along with it. Fortunately, there are other options. Today's legal form websites allow you to go to the Internet and purchase legal documents for less than half of what a lawyer would charge. LawDepot, one of the big names in the world of online legal forms, is one of the sites we came across when conducting our legal form website reviews. Want to know how they measured up? Here's the scoop...
What’s New?
- Site subscription offering unlimited access.
- Create your forms online.
- Business solutions available.
Our Favorite Feature:
We’re all a little nervous when it comes to filling out a legal document. It has to be done correctly. One mistake and the whole document becomes worth less than the paper it's written on. That's why we really like the fact that LawDepot offers their customers the opportunity to have an “accuracy review” for an additional charge. It ensures your forms are accurate and legally binding.
The LawDepot Experience: LawDepot offers automated legal documents for the U.S., Australia, Canada and the UK. An easy to navigate site provides an easy search venue for locating the document you require. All forms are filled out online at which time the customer purchases the “license” for the particular form for a period of time.
When we selected a form from the site we were taken to a page that described the form and what it should be used for. The site also noted when the form was last modified. We liked the fact that LawDepot takes measures to ensure all forms are kept up to date and current.
After you purchase a form the site allows you to fill the form out right then and there by filling in boxes in a structure provided by LawDepot. You can request hints to assist you as you complete each question, which proved to be a lot more convenient than the "download" forms offered by most of the competitors.
You can opt to purchase the completed form for a single use or for multiple uses. The single-use option allows you to change, print, edit, save and download the form for 2 weeks using their website. Purchasing a “multiple use license” gives you unlimited access to the form for one year using their website. If you would like it checked for accuracy by their legal experts, a check box is available for that as well.
If you prefer, you can purchase a subscription to the site which provides you with unlimited access to all forms for a 3 month to 2 year period of time depending on the terms of your enrollment.
The only thing we didn't like about the site was the fact that you can't see the per-form pricing until you're actually ready to purchase the form, which is after you already take the time to fill out the information in the form.
LawDepot also offers 100% guaranteed accuracy. If an error is found in any of their legal documents they will pay you $100. The site boasts reviews by Consumer Reports, The Wall Street Journal and Yahoo Finance.
LawDepot Features:
- Professionally prepared legal documents.
- Fill the forms out online and then purchase.
- Purchase one form or a subscription to the site.
- Package deals.
- 100% guarantee.
- Free support.
- Verification offer.
- Forms for U.S., Australia, Canada, U.K.
LawDepot Pricing:
- LawDepot offers unlimited subscriptions for $99 per year or $33 per month.
- Per-form prices vary depending on form and options chosen.
LawDepot Customer Service:
LawDepot offers customer support via an online FAQ, a toll free phone number and support. The email is form-based and requires that you select a category of problem and a form name. No information is given as to how long it will take to receive an answer to an email request. We got an answer within 2 business days.
Phone support is offered Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 4 PM Mountain Time. The hold time was about five minutes, but the rep we spoke with was very friendly and helpful. We actually have to give them kudos for offering any phone support at all, since many websites are shying away from this support method.
Upside:
All-inclusive subscriptions, up-to-date forms, online form assistance.
Downside:
You don’t know the price of an individual form until you answer all the “required” questions on the form, submit it and then select option to purchase.

I applied for a BC Incorporation 3 weeks ago and they have done nothing yet. They charged $500 right away though. Sent a few emails asking about the status and no answer. They are obviously there to sc@m people and l1e on their website. They say it will take 1 to 5 business days to get the corporation running LOL. It makes me so angry to have my trust taken advantage of like this, imm0ral people. This is the first time I tried to open a corporation, I have been working very hard over a year on a product and just wanted to have my own company to sell it. It su.cks when you trust someone with something I was very excited to get done and they just don't fulfill their promises. Even if they finally incorporate my application I am demanding a full refund for not providing the slightest support and for not being honest about the time it takes for them to process the request. I don't understand how anyone can go to sleep with a clean conscience running a business like this, it makes me sick. |
