When we looked for the best apartment rental services, we wanted to include a mixture of sites. One unique website we came across is the Metro Roommates apartment listing site. Not only can you post ads for your apartment/roommates wanted, you can look for an opening too. What a great concept! Read on for our entire experience below.
What's New with Metro Roommates Rental Listings?- Sign up for a free "My Roommates" account to store rental results and search criteria.
- Receive new listing updates by mail.
- Sign up for a full membership for 90 days of all-inclusive access.
Star Reviews' Favorite Metro Roommates Feature: We really liked the fact that Metro Roommates offered links to almost any service we could possibly need including movers, insurance resources, self-storage centers, employment links and more.
About Metro Roommates: Back in 2000, at the turn of the new Millennium, the owners of the Sublet.com website created Metro Roommates in response to increasing demand in locating roommates for already-leased apartments. Since that time, the Metro Roommates' website has helped create more than 50,000 roommate matches.
The Metro Roommates Experience:- When we first logged on to the Metro Roomates website, it seemed to be geared more towards leaseholders who were looking for roommates than it was for those looking to rent a room. However, once we were on the site for a few moments, we found the link that allowed us to search for a room.
- The search feature was very easy to use. We just entered our search criteria and in just a few seconds, we were presented with a list of possible matches.
- Navigating our search results was also easy and the listing details included pictures as well as a detailed description.
- We were a bit disappointed that we would have to pay for a 90-day subscription if we wanted access to all of the Metro Roomates listings.
- A 90-day membership ranges in price from $25 to $100.
The Search:
In the process of writing the apartment rental service reviews, our team entered the same search criteria into each apartment finder website in order to compare results. The search criteria included all apartments in downtown Chicago with a price range of $500 to $1,000 per month that allowed cats and/or small dogs. When we performed this search on Metro Roommates, we were presented with the following results: Customer Support:
Metro Roommates offers customer support via an online help forum with an FAQ database, phone and an email submission form. Our phone call was answered promptly and by a knowledgeable and friendly representative. Our email request was also answered quickly (the same business day) although the response we received didn't really answer the question we had asked.
Upside:
One of the only websites that offers a free roommate search on the Web, detailed listings with photos, numerous resource links.
Downside:
You have to pay for a 90-day subscription for full access. Impersonal email support responses.
