When it comes to supplemental insurance you need to work with a company that has a proven track record of success and customer satisfaction. That's why we knew we had to include Mutual of Omaha in our supplemental insurance reviews. Wondering how this insurance giant measures up to the competition? Here's what you need to know...
What's New with Mutual of Omaha Supplemental Insurance?- The Mutual of Omaha Foundation helps fund community programs and organizations.
- Company partnerships with causes such as Giving Through Golf, HALO club, United Way, and NorthSTAR.
- Medicare Supplement, Hospital Income, and Medicare Part D plans available.
Star Reviews' Favorite Mutual of Omaha Feature: Our favorite feature of the Mutual of Omaha website was the Tools section. Insurance Worksheets help to determine the amount of life insurance and disability income customers need, and Financial Fitness tools can answer all of your questions regarding debt and credit cards. We also found the Retirement Planning category to be quite useful for brainstorming retirement strategies.
The Mutual of Omaha Experience: The first thing we noticed about the Mutual of Omaha website was its great layout and the overall aesthetic appeal. Once we began actually shopping for insurance, we found the site to be well-organized and easy to navigate. The menu tabs make it easy to locate the plans you are looking for and by clicking on a tab you can get detailed information about any plans you are interested in.
In addition to an easy-to-navigate website and in-depth coverage information, the Mutual of Omaha website also impressed us by explaining how the company is heavily involved in community programs. It donates a portion of its proceeds to a number of organizations including United Way and Giving for Golf. We really feel that Mutual of Omaha cares about its clients and community.
The only thing we didn't like was the fact that quotes for supplemental insurance were not available online. While this seems common with insurance companies, we feel they need to catch up with the times and offer online insurance purchases.

Mutual of Omaha Pricing: Comparing pricing for standard supplemental insurance is hard because the plans and types of coverage vary from one company to the next. Instead, to get an idea of how competitive a company is in pricing, we decided to get rates based on a standard criteria of a $600,000, 20-year life insurance policy using the same information on each of the supplemental insurance websites we provided. This way we can see how the companies compare in price to one another using an "apples to apples" approach. This is the cost comparison breakdown:

Mutual of Omaha Customer Service:
Mutual of Omaha has quite an extensive customer service section on its website, including an in-depth FAQ. Printable claims and service forms are also provided on the website for added convenience, and support is available by e-mail, snail mail, and a toll-free phone.
The company was extremely fast in responding to our customer service inquiries. Email support answered us the very same day and phone support took only seconds to get through to. While we felt the rep we spoke with could have been a little friendlier, she did address our questions and provided us with the information we required.
Upside:
Extensive customer support, large amount of community involvement, variety of plans offered.
Downside:
Not available in all states and online quotes not available.
