The Rentals.com Experience:
When we visited the Rentals.com website, we were impressed by its fluidity and easy-to-access search features located right on the home page. The layout of the Rentals.com site is very useful, providing links to customized category searches such as lofts, vacation homes, college housing, senior housing, corporate housing and more.
Performing a search on the Rentals.com website was very easy. However, the site did not let us narrow our search to specific sections of metro areas, leaving us digging through hundreds of results to find what we were looking for.
The Search:
In the process of writing the apartment rental service reviews, our team entered the same search criteria into each apartment finder website in order to compare the results returned. The search criteria included all apartments in downtown Chicago with a price range of $500 to $1,000 per month that allowed cats and/or small dogs. However, when we tried to perform this search on Rentals.com, the site would not let us limit our search results to the downtown area, leaving us wading through hundreds of search results that weren't in downtown Chicago.
Customer Support:
While Rentals.com doesn't necessarily offer a customer service contact page, they do offer a comments page where you can contact the operators of the site. We did contact the site via the comments page, but had not yet received a response as of the date of this review.
Upside:
Free access to thousands of rentals, categorization makes niche searches convenient, access to new and improved beta site.
Downside:
Search features are limited and no customer service.
