The 2011 version of The Shield Deluxe is somewhat disappointing on a number of levels. The Shield Deluxe has long used the BitDefender engine which in general makes it one of the better antivirus and antispyware product on the market but this year the interface has gone to downright ugly. While the product maintains the high level of security protection, this glaring mistake is hard to overlook.
This antivirus software engine has all the antivirus effectiveness certifications from WestCoast and Virus Bulletins and historically this antivirus engine
has been among the most effective antivirus software engines in the
market. I am always using the products as I right reviews and it helps to go back and forth for reference while I put together my thoughts on the product. I am running a full system scan on my
machine and with the system scan running we are using less than 18MB
of Ram and less than 10MB in normal operations.
The Shield Deluxe antivirus software program is a great install and forget product. Once you get past the interface the product runs itself for the next year. The installation process only gets confusing because of a few options that I would have preferred being on the backend and not during this antivirus softwares installation process.
Another negative for The Shield Deluxe this year is the customer support. In years past PCSecurityShield provided free support which is still available but the support is offered by a third party which attempts to upsell you various expensive services. Not the free service that we have come to expect and one that gets many complaints on various forums and in the StarReviews comments section.

We really liked the fact that The Shield Deluxe 2011 was able to protect our computer in real time. This gave us a secure feeling that when a virus comes it will be stopped before it can even infect our system. While most software offers real time virus protection nowadays, The Shield Deluxe 2011 does it without sucking up too much of our system resources.

The Shield Deluxe 2011 Experience:
We were able to install The Shield Deluxe 2011 on our computers with no trouble at all. Once running we were presented with a pleasantly designed user interface that was easy to navigate. We were able to access and run the various scans and features with very little effort.
The software itself did an admirable job of fending off nearly all of the threats that attempted to gain entry onto our computer. This included an attempt by malicious keylogger that was effectively stopped dead in its tracks. We also noted that system restoration feature performed as promised.
As far as problems with this antivirus software, there really were none to speak of. Though we did happen to notice that some of the sites that we wished to visit were blocked by the software, we can only assume that is because the site in question could have possibly been a phishing site. So there is the possibility that some sites that you know are fine could be blocked by this antivirus program, but you should be able to work around that by customizing and changing your settings.

The Shield Deluxe 2011 Customer Service:
The Shield Deluxe 2011 customer service was available to us in several different formats. The first was a fairly informative FAQ that was able to answer most of our basic questions. There is also access to online guides about the software and its installation.
We were most impressed, however, with the ability access help via the live chat option. This allowed us to quickly get to the bottom of our problems and the tech on the other end was both patient and courteous.
The first options remain the same from years past but customer service is now outsourced. The third party is not as qualified as the internal service was in years past and are somewhat pushy when attempting to upsell customers additional services. This is another step down in PCSecurityShield service.

| I run a business and started using these products when I finally had enough of Norton. On every machine with whichever product I've used I would get false expiration notices. They would come and go, then finally expire before my license time was up. I have it on one final machine, and they're gyping me out of over 300 days on my license. It's a sham. Do not do business with this company. |

| Beware of this company. They operate a scam. I purchased the software but the link thye provided did not work. When I contacted them they loaded the software on my computer by remote access. They then insisted that I had lots of prblems on my computer and wanted me to pay them $209.00. The "technician" knew virtually nothing about IT and told me a whole lot of lies. She did not know that I have been working in IT for 25 years. The software slowed down certain applications on my computer so I contacted them again three times. Again none of their "technicians" knew much about computers and told me a load of nonsense and wanted $209 to solve the problem. They are a bunch of crooks! |

| I purchased The Shield Deluxe in March 09 and lost the disk, found it few months ago and installed it still showing valid for another 634 days, as far as i was concerned it was protecting my lap top, but it kept showing warning and would not scan my laptop, i emailed support, they emailed back saying i need to call support, so i called them and they logged in and then tried to sell me repairs for $139 and then $79 for one time fix.
I thought that was deceiving when you buy complete protection for your computer and then they want you to pay for the repair that the program should be protecting it from any damage, my computer has not scanned for 82 days and The Shield Deluxe will not scan my computer and my computer is starting to very slow and freeze up, i am very disappointed with the responded to my problem,i hope they will take care of this issue and correct this mistake, if not i may have to look at other company for my computer protection.
