The amount of cell phone providers can be a bit daunting for a consumer who is trying to find the best service and the best deal. Before cell phone services went on line you had to hop from store to store looking at what was available. Nowadays, however, finding the best cell phone provider is as easy as clicking your mouse. The Star Reviews team decided to compare cell phone service websites. Sprint.com was one of the first we researched for our cell phone website reviews. How did they do when compared to the competition? Here's what we discovered...
What's New with Sprint Cellular?- The Simply Everything Plan.
- Samsung Instinct phones available.
- Guitar Hero 3 mobile.
Our Favorite Sprint Cellular Feature: The Simply Everything Plan is a nice feature that includes unlimited mobile minutes, web, email, GPS, texting, Sprint Music and Sprint TV all for one set price. It’s a nice feature if you want to have every option available in one package, and it can save you quite a bundle of cash.
The Sprint Experience:
At first glance, the Sprint website is very polished. The main page has two banner images that change upon refreshing. Like similar sites, the plans, phones, accessories and support pages are accessed by tabs, but in Sprint’s case, the tabs change the bottom half of the screen leaving the top banner intact.
Sprint offers a variety of phone models to choose from including camera phones, TV and music phones, direct connect phones, and smart phones. The phone search page takes a little time to initially load up, but it does list all of the phones that Sprint offers. It is a decent list, but contains fewer phones than competitors.
The plans page was a little more difficult to navigate. While you can try to filter your search, it is easier to just scroll through the page to find the plan that suits you best. It is a straightforward no-frills page. \
We did really like the Digital Lounge, which offers media content like Madden 09 trailers, music, ringtones and wallpapers. It is a well-presented, easily-navigated page with many entertaining options to browse through.
And we really liked the Sprint Family Locater. Never worry about where your kids are again. This unique feature lets you see exactly where your family member is (as long as the phone is on). It usually costs $9.99 per month per family member, but the company is currently offering a free 15-day trial.
Sprint Features:- The Simply Everything plan.
- Interactive coverage map/
- Nextel Direct Connect.
- Mobile broadband cards.
- Sprint family locater.
Sprint Pricing:
- Simply Everything Plan for $99.
- Everything Plans from $70-$90.
- Individual talk plans from $30-$170.
- Business plans from $40-$200.
Sprint Customer Service: Customer Service on the site is quite basic. Sprint provides and email service, and with a little searching you can find phone numbers and mailing address. Unfortunately phone support was difficult to get through to. After jumping through a few automated hoops we were put on hold for about five minutes. Eventually we were connected with a rep who was very hard to understand and communicate with. There is, however, a decent knowledge base for you to search through, and a few FAQ’s to reference.
Upside:
Lots of media downloads available, all-inclusive plans, family locater.
Downside:
Phone selection is limited.

| I have had Sprint for my cell phone service for over 3 years now. I have had other cell phone companies, but this is my favorite by far. I get coverage pretty much anywhere I go and I rarely have dropped calls. They have great deals on cell phones when it is time for me to renew my contract, which is great because I do not want to pay full retail for the cost of a phone. Anytime I had billing issues I would call customer service and they would be very kind and help me out right away. If I wanted to change something on my plan, I could even do it online within just a couple of minutes. If i needed help changing something online and didn't know how to do it, they have live online chat which is awesome! |

| While I have never personally used Sprint for my cell phone service, my father has. Based off his experience, I will never use Sprint as a cell phone service provider. Since Sprint and Nextel merged, my father has had nothing but trouble with his service. Considering my father is a consultant and relies heavily up on his cell phone for work, this has been exceptionally problematic. His calls were constantly being dropped, if he received or was able to send them at all. When he has had to call and talk to customer service, the customer service representatives haven’t been the least bit knowledgeable or down right rude. Ultimately, as soon as he was able to get out of his contract, he switched providers. |

| I used to have Sprint a while ago, and in all honesty it was a good service but there customer care was horrible. The one apsect about Sprint I will say is they have great coverage, especially compared to one of it's two main competitors, AT&T. The one place that I was never able to get coverage with AT&T was my parents house, and with Sprint I had no problem. Even when I had Virgin mobile for a moment, in which runs on the Sprint network, I received great coverage there. Also Sprint does have the fastest network. So if you are looking to get an air-card, I do suggest the Sprint one.
Now as far as price goes, they are average. All three main cell phone companies have basically the same plans, same prices, and same add-ons. Sprint does have the Instinct, in which personally I like better than the I-Phone 3G.
Basically if you are looking for a new phone company, I have been satisfied witht the Sprint network and I would choose it over AT&T for that reason. |
