TaxAct.com was one of the tax preparation services that we looked forward to checking out the most as right on their main page they promise a FREE Federal Tax Return for everyone. A few other sites offer this but none of them so far have made it quite this clear and we really enjoyed that. This site has been up for over 10 years so they have definitely stood the test of time which can mean only one thing. They are doing something right and we are curious to see what exactly it is. StarReviews Favorite TaxACT Feature:
Our favorite feature that TaxACT offers is the ability to access old tax returns. Most companies only give you the option to access last year's tax return but at TaxACT, you can access your tax returns for the past two years which is something we find to be very helpful and can come in handy time and time again. It's always fun to compare your current tax return to past tax returns and see what has changed and what hasn't. With this exciting feature, you will be able to do just that. This is the first time that we've seen a company that will allow you two access your tax returns from the past two years in quite some time now so we felt the need to mention it to everyone. It may not sound like anything too special right now but one day you'll find good use of that feature and thank them.
The TaxACT Experience:
When we visited TaxACT our initial reaction was that it's one of those sites that is simple yet
sweet. It gets the point across and really grabs your attention when it needs to. Everything is pretty easy to access and we found most anything we were looking for. You can search for many different things from the main page such as the different packages that are available, tax help and tips, and even a date archive that includes FAQs. The site isn't overloaded with flashy images or sales pitches but just straight to the point information and the truth. We even noticed that this particular site is a 6 Time Award Winner through Bizrate which is definitely a plus as well. Naturally the first thing we wanted to look for is the pricing of the various packages so we checked out the Online Tax Products section and found pricing for both Federal and State Tax Returns. They had a comparison of various packages that cover different things which gave us a better idea of what we'd be spending for both returns and what we'd get with it. This alone makes this site worth your consideration and business.
We can't honestly say that this looks like the best tax preparation service that we've come across but there's no reason it shouldn't be towards the top of our list. We think most of you will agree once you check it out and give it a shot but it definitely isn't for everyone. They don't have the best prices and they definitely don't have the best layout but what they do have is a thorough and extensive knowledge of the tax business which means you are in good hands if you do decide to go with TaxACT which is very respectable. There were so many different sections on the site that we did not go through them all mainly because we didn't need to but from what we did look at we gathered this. TaxACT is a very solid site with some good packages and was very easy to navigate. We think that you'll have a similar experience and that TaxACT will be in the back of your mind in tax season.

TaxACT Customer Support:
The Customer Support at TaxACT can be accessed by clicking the Support tab at the top right of the page and offers a ton of solutions to any problem or concern that you may have. You can choose from the list of FAQs or choose to contact them directly which is what we did. We sent them an email but hadn't received a response yet at the time of this review. We would've much rather called them but in order to get phone support they charge a flat fee of $7.95 to gain access to what they call, their Premium Phone Support. It could be the very best phone support in the world but we don't think anyone should have to pay for customer service for a product that they've already bought or plan on buying. This is something that we definitely feel needs to change. No one in their right mind should ever pay for support for a product that they've already spent their hard earned money on and hopefully that price disappears in the future and TaxAct.com offers free phone support or at least some other type of support such as Chat. As of now the only way that we could get in contact with them was through email and they emphasize that there is no cost for the email and we'll receive a response in 2 days. Very poor customer support in our opinion but there is one plus. It leaves them room for improvement.
