We really like the fact that TrustedID offers protection for all of the adults in a household. Most identity theft protection services make each adult sign up individually (which obviously costs more money in the long run). TrustedID allows all adult household members to sign up for the same price.

How TrustedID Works:


When you sign up with TrustedID the company puts a "freeze" on your credit report. This lets lenders know that they need to actually verify your identity before issuing you credit. That means online credit card offers can't be processed until proof of your identity is verified. This is a huge step in preventing the theft of your ID.

In addition to a credit freeze, TrustedID also gets you off of those pre-approved offer lists. Not only does this cut down on your junk mail, but it also prevents those offers from falling into the wrong hands.

TrustedID also monitors your credit cards. If your credit card number falls into the wrong hands the company will let you know and can help you take the appropriate measures.

TrustedID's Customer Service:


TrustedID offers customer support via phone and email. The phone support was helpful, but we were on hold for quite a while before actually speaking to a rep. Once the rep did answer, the responses we received were a bit vague. We wanted in-depth details regarding what the $1,000,000 insurance covered and we were told it covered "authorized" out of pocket expenses. However, when we asked what "authorized" expenses entailed things got vague and shady. We experienced the same response with email support (and it took them a full business day to get back to us to boot). All in all, we feel that TrustedID can work on its response times and the level of information it provides.

Upside:

Fast and easy sign-up process, one subscription covers all adults in household.

Downside:

I recently signed up for TrustedID service. I chose the family plan and am having difficulties activating my wifes account. I called trustedID and after selecting the appropriate option, was on hold for 58 minutes at which time I hung up and tried again. The second time I was on hold for 28 minutes with no answer. I have better things to do than to wait on them to answer their phone! I am seriously disappointed and will most likely cancel my account and go to LIFELOCK for my services.
