During lunch, a few members of the Star Reviews team reminisced about shows like America's Funniest Home Videos and discussed how some video sharing web sites capture the same feel, without the large cash prize. One such site is VidiLife, which we found numerous interesting videos through right off the bat. Continue on for what we found below.

Star Reviews Favorite VidiLife Feature:

Vidicash-Vidicash is virtual currency you earn from signing into the site, referring members, and more. You can exchange Vidicash to play games, buy virtual gifts for your friends, and more. It's a fun little reward that helps build a sense of community at the site.

VidiLife Video Sharing Features:

Upload, share, and store videos and photos
Take animated quizzes and play interactive games
Keep a blog
Create playlists of your favorite videos
Watch videos from other users

About VidiLife's Video Sharing Service:

VidiLife is really part video sharing service and part social networking site. Basically, it's a combination of YouTube and MySpace. While most of the site's activities focus around uploading and watching videos, you can also blog, join clubs, rate videos, play games, and more at the site.

Navigating the VidiLife Video Sharing Site:

VidiLife's web site is easy to navigate. You can find a tab or link to almost any part of the site from the home page, and those tabs and links are clearly labeled so you never have to guess where it will lead. If you are looking for videos to view, you can either use the search feature available in the upper corner of the page or you can browse through a number of different categories, including Hollywood Videos, Hot Videos, and Amateur Videos. Unfortunately, some of these classifications aren't clear so you may still have a hard time finding the video you want.

Using VidiLife's Video Sharing Services:

Watching VidiLife is as simple as clicking on the footage you want to view. Basically, it works like almost all of the other video sharing sites. After you view the video, you can choose to share it with others by clicking on the appropriate button and entering your friend's email address. To upload videos, you'll need to log in, complete a brief description of the video, then find the file on your hard drive so it can be added to the site. You receive automatic email notification when your file is available for viewing online.

Video Sharing Pricing:

VidiLife, like most video sharing and social networking sites, is free to use. However, you will see plenty of advertisements, including many of the high-risk “You're a Winner” banners which could potentially be sources of spyware and other malicious code. Not to mention, these ads can be incredibly annoying.

VidiLife Customer Support:
VidiLife does have a fairly lengthy Help section on their web site. They do a good job of covering the most common questions and of giving an overview of how most of their features work, such as Videomail. However, if you can't find what you're looking for in the Help section, you run into trouble.

A “Contact Us” form is also available on this site. The only two subject line options are “General/Feedback” and “Advertising” so already you know the form isn't really meant for obtaining answers. However, in Star fashion, we tried it out. After entering our information and hitting “Submit,” the screen changed to blank white without any confirmation. Worried that something went wrong, we tried a few more times and the same thing happened. Not surprisingly, five days after sending our messages we still haven't heard anything from their customer service department. This is very disappointing, as customer support shouldn’t go to error.

Upside:
Easy to use service. All services are free. Fun for social networkers.

Downside:
Lots of ads. Unresponsive customer support.

Summary:
When Star Reviews began compiling our video sharing reviews, we expected most of the sites to be set up basically like YouTube, which is definitely the case with VidiLife. If you've used YouTube then you can use VidiLife with no problem. If you love sharing videos and being part of an online community, then VidiLife is a great choice. On the downside, the advertisements on the VidiLife site are questionable and annoying. Plus, the site seems to have no real customer support outside their Help section. The bottom line is that VidiLife is may be fine for some users, but most would be better served by one of the other video sharing services on the Internet.
